What is Algebra?! =P

Algebra is a branch of mathematics concerning the study of structure, relation and quantity.

What are the key words?

The key words are,  Expression, Variable, and Equation. 

Expression : - an algebraic expression has many answers.

                      - it shows a pattern

                      - ex.  n+6 shows the pattern of a number increased by 6

Variable : - a letter or symbol representing a quantity ( number )

Equation : - an algebraic equation has only 1 answer.

ex. >>>>> n x 3 = 18

                  (n)3 devided by 3 . You also devide 18 by 3 .

                  n = 6

Balance :

1)Isolate the variable : n+3=7 (n is the variable)

ex. >>>>> n+3 = 7

2)Cancel a term using its opposite

ex.>>>>> n+3-3 = 7

3)Do the same thing on the otherside

ex.>>>>>  n+3-3    =    7-3

4) Verify your answer

n = 7

n+3= 7

n+3= 7-3

7-3 = 4

4+3=7

7=7 Balance
