- a letter or symbol repersenting an quanitity ( number)

ie. ---> n + 3 = number plus 3 is the variable

 

 

 

Expression

- an a algebra expression has many answer

- share same pattern

- n+ 6 shows the pattern of a numinator

 

 

 

Eqation

- is a mathamatical way of somthing

- on ablgebra equation that has only 1 answer

The length of a rectangle is 2cm less then 7 times the width. the parimeter is  60cm.  Find  the length and width ?

 you must find out what you know first

 

so we know that width  = n

so we know that length = 7n - 2

 

so we know that the parimeter = 60cm

 

 

 

 and now we know that the formula is 7n - 2

 

 

p= L+L+W+W

 

subittue it with the information that given

 

P= 7n - 2 + 7n - 2 + n + n

 

P= 60cm

 

60cm = 16n - 4

 

 

now we now the fromual of the problem

16n - 4 = 60cm
