STEPS FOR SUCCESS
Variable : a letter or symbol that represents a number.
In the equation : n + 3 = 10
n = varaible
Expression : n + 3 is an expression because there no = sign. This means n + 3 is a PATTERN with many answers.
Equation: n + 3 = 10 is an equation because "n" can be only 1 thing. The = sign, makes n + 3 = 10 and equation.
a pattern that goes down the table is either x or y
Words that mean +-x/
Using Subtraction & Addition
-9 = n+ 3
You can move an answer and = sign to the right of the equation.
5 = 3+2
3+2=5
-9 = n+3 is the same as n+3 =-9
2n=6
dividing does not exist.
2n=6
2n/2=6/2

Surface Area :
The surface area of a space figure is the total area of all the faces of the figure.
Prism :
A prism is a space figure with two congruent, parallel bases that are polygons.
Area :
The area of a figure measures the size of the region enclosed by the figure.
Perimeter :
The perimeter of a polygon is the sum of the lengths of all its sides.
Area of a Rectangle :
The area of a rectangle is the product of its width and length.
L x W =
Length = base of a rectangle
Width = weight of a rectangle
length and width make a right angle.
L x W =
5cm x 3cm = 15cm2
Volume:
Rectangular Prism
- area of the base x height
(LxW)H
LxWxH
20cmx5cmx10cm = 1000cm3
Area of a Triangle :
Conside a triangle with base length b and a height h. The area of the triangle is 1/2 x b x h.
Volume:
Triangular Prism
- area of the base x height
Area of a Circle :
The area of a circle is Pi x r2 or Pi x r x r, where r is the length of its radius.
Circumference of a Circle :
The distance around a circle. It is equal to Pi () times the diameter of the circle. Pi or is a number that is approximately 3.14159.
Area of a Circle :
If "L" is the side-length of a square, the area of the square is 12 or 1 x 1.
Volume:
Cylinder
- area of te base x height
Volume:
Cube
- area of the base x height
