Here are some important words that you should know the meaning of to understand Algebra a little better.

 

 

 

here is a list of words that mean Adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing.

 

here are some sample questions.

 

1. 3 times a number is......  3n  <---Highlight

2. 3 more than a number is..... 3+n <---Highlight

3. 3 decreased by a number is...... 3-n <---Highlight

Alge Tiles

 

 

Algebra is all about balance. What you do to one thing you do to the other.  It is also about finding a common pattern. Here is an example of finding a pattern.

 

This pattern is called "Toothpick Math." We first had to draw the next two triangles to complete the pattern. After, we created a table to show our findings. Finally, we than had to describe the pattern we saw horizontally and vertically.

 

 

 

After we had to create a graph.

 

 

 

A graph has to have a title, two sub-titles for the y axis and x axis, labeled axis', and the ruler going up and across.

The way to know which is the y axis is that "y" drops down so its the line going up and down or vertical.

 

When doing these types of sheets we also had to come up with an algebraic expression and equation like this.

 

 

 

we also used subsitution algebra for questions like this.

The branch of mathematics that deals with the deduction of the properties, measurement, and relationships of points, lines, angles, and figures in space from their defining conditions by means of certain assumed properties of space

The man they named the Pythagorean Theorm after. The theorem states that the sum of the squares of the two legs of a right triangle is equal to the square of the hypotenuse.

 

First of all, what is a right triangle?

 

A Right triangle is a triangle that has an angle of 90 degrees. It has a base, (b) an altitude (a) they make up the right angle, and a hypotenuse(c) usually the missing side.

 

 

 

 

 

Finding "C" is when the Hypotenuse of the triangle is missing. The formula to find "C" is .....

Finding the perimeter of a circle is a whole different story. To find the perimeter or Circumference of a circle you have to know the radius, diameter and the magic circle number pi.

What is surface area?

Surface area is finding the entire area of a 3d object. We will show you how to find the surface area for a cube, rectangular prism, triangular prism and a cylinder.

 

first we will start with the cube since it is the easiest.

 

 

 

secondly, we will show you how to find the surface area of a rectangular prism.

 

 

thirdly, the triangular prism.

 

 

 

 

Finally for the cylinder. This is one of the more tougher ones to find the area of.

Adding a little more stuff.

 

Here is finding the volume of a cube, rectangular prism, triangular, prism and cylinder.

 

Lets start off with the cube.

 

 

 

Now, for the rectangular prism.

 

 

Now for the triangular prism. These are one of the more trickier shapes because they give an extra measurment.
